What happens to the skin when you age?
Collagen is the foundational structural support for our skin making it firm, elastic and smooth. The speed of collagen damage is genetically determined and is caused by numerous factors such as UV radiation. Collagen starts to reduce significantly from age 30 leading to sagging skin and wrinkles. Is Profhilo worth it?

It provides hydration to the skin, restoration and maintenance of the skins hydrolipidic film and protection from free radicals which damage the skin’s collagen resulting in firmer, more elastic and hydrated skin.

How does Profhilo work?
Profhilo is a biostimulator which is injected under the skin. It works by stimulating cells in the deep layers of the skin which are involved in processes such as collagen and elastin production that are important for firm and smooth skin. It also contains one of the highest concentrations of ultrapure hyaluronic acid on the market keeping the skin supple and radiant.
What are the indications for Profhilo?

What happens during the treatment?
After your consultation your clinician will inject your chosen body areas under the skin in specific areas according to the Profhilo protocol
Is it painful?
It is an injectable treatment which some patients may find uncomfortable. However, a very thin needle called an ‘invisible’ needle is used to make the process as comfortable as possible and it is a quick treatment (30min or less)
How long is the recovery process?
Following treatment patients can resume normal day-to-day activities almost immediately. There will be blebs on the skin where the treatment has been injected which usually settles after 4 – 6 hours and in the majority of people within 24 hours. Due to this we advise patients to take the day off work/social events so that the treatment can be absorbed into the skin (please see below for aftercare advice)
Profhilo side effects?
The most common side effects are bruising and swelling. Your doctor will discuss this thoroughly during your consultation
What is the aftercare advice?
Aftercare advice includes but is not limited to these points: Avoid touching the treatment area for 6 hours after treatment; avoid alcohol for 24 hours before and after treatment; avoid exposure to intense heat and cold. Your doctor will discuss this thoroughly during your consultation
